Emma Kostraba is a student at Rochester Institute of Technology who will receive a BFA in Photographic and Imaging Arts with a concentration of Visual Media in May 2024. From an early age, Emma has been passionate about photography and art. Her love for photography took off during her Junior year of high school while enrolled in a digital and film photography course. Emma's world was widened as soon as she started exploring the creative and visionary traits of the darkroom. However, the pandemic brought the course to an abrupt stop. In that time of emptiness, Emma spent her free time teaching herself digital photography, capturing anything around her, and documenting the pandemic. In addition, Emma is an artist who enjoys working with ceramics, fiber crafts, painting, printmaking, and drawing. The more Emma photographed and created art the more she realized this passion was something she wanted to pursue and develop.
At RIT, Emma worked as a photographer for SportsZone, a multimedia production ensemble covering RIT's Division I to Division III athletic events. Currently, Emma works for Sports Network broadcasting live streams for RIT athletic events.
Emma has been selected for the Outstanding Undergraduate Scholar Award which celebrates the top 1% of  RIT's undergraduate students. Emma's work has also been featured in RIT Athletics and in the USA Hockey National Team Development Program.
